The aphids, some coleopterans, mealy bugs, butterflies and moths, worms and caterpillars are often attacking roses.
Good mulching, good watering and frequent sulfur applications help to avoid very harmful attacks of the insects. Soapy water is sometimes very effective but needs more repetitions. Rinse the leaves after a treatment with soapy water.
A treatment with insecticides seems sometimes to be inevitable, especially in years with many insect apparitions.
Be careful when using insecticides.
