It is a new group of roses which appeared in the 70's, originated from the crosses of the English David Austin.
The English Roses combine the fine and romantic charm of the ancient roses with the abundance of repeat flowering and the “explosive” colors of the new rose varieties.
The roses in this group are big, in the shape of rosette or cup that gives the old style charm. Their fragrances may vary from Old Rose fragrance to Tea Rose and Musk Rose fragrances to the fragrance of myrrh and many different fruits; no group of flowers of any kind can rival in this respect.
English Roses have a natural shrubby growth dense enough to form a compact bush or they may be gracefully arching. These forms make them ideal for mixed borders but they can be used for bedding or as excellent repeat flowering climbers for the taller varieties.
